the public to its Annual General Meeting and a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scabric.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/sauve-pesticides-mai-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">keynote presentation<\/a><\/span> by S\u00e9bastien Sauv\u00e9, professor at Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al and co-author of a recent study on pesticides found in surface water from the Ch\u00e2teauguay River\u2014and even in the drinking water at a local treatment plant (not disclosed out of respect for the partnership involved).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5903dcc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5903dcc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>More than 60 attendees asked excellent questions to better understand the situation and left the event with clearer insights. Key takeaways included: <\/p><ul><li>Dozens of pesticides are present in trace amounts, in a cocktail-like mix, in both surface water and drinking water.<\/li><li>All detected levels in drinking water comply with Canadian standards. However, they do not meet the European Union\u2019s precautionary principle. Since Canada is not bound by EU regulations, no collective action can clearly be taken on this basis. <\/li><li>On an individual level, the most effective way to remove contaminants from drinking water is by using a small reverse osmosis system\u2014intended only for direct consumption (drinking a glass of water, making soup, etc.).<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f128138 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f128138\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>2024\u20132025 Annual Report<\/h4>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-712bea9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"712bea9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Following the presentation, the organization shared its <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scabric.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Rapport-annuel-OBV-SCABRIC_2024-WEB-V2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2024-2025 annual report<\/a><\/span>. It was by far the busiest year in the organization\u2019s history, with nine full-time employees and four seasonal or part-time staff, and $1,000,000 in projects completed.
