During a press conference held on June 8 as part of Water Month, the OBV SCABRIC announced the details of its 2026 summer program. There will be something for everyone this summer, from water sports enthusiasts to culture lovers and festivalgoers.
For outdoor enthusiasts
Those who enjoy outdoor physical activities will have plenty to choose from this summer. First, kayaking enthusiasts are invited to paddle down the Châteauguay River as part of the Bike & Kayak outings taking place on July 11, August 2, 15 and 16, and September 6 and 7. Registration is now open online. You can also book a group reservation for 7 to 60 people at all times by contacting OBV SCABRIC.
In collaboration with the Municipality of Sainte-Martine, paddleboard yoga sessions are back this year, taking place every Tuesday evening from July 7 to August 25.
Online rentals of stand-up paddleboards, canoes, kayaks and tandem kayaks will once again be available this year through the OBV SCABRIC’s website. The rental service will be available on weekends, June 6–7 and June 13–14, and then daily from June 20 to August 23 at Parc Léveillé, located at 58 Saint-Joseph Street in Sainte-Martine. Rentals will then be offered on weekends only throughout September, including statutory holidays.
Experience Culture with SCABRIC
The I Love My River photo contest is back this year, and photo and video submissions will be accepted until June 22. The winner will be announced during the Grand Splash on July 12, and their work will be featured in the Maison Le Pailleur outdoor summer exhibition in Châteauguay starting July 20.
On June 21, the Municipality of Sainte-Martine will host a special storytime event in collaboration with SCABRIC. Stories by the Water will help raise young people’s awareness of environmental protection while providing a fun and engaging experience.
Several water-themed recreational events are also planned throughout the region, including the Jam de l’eau, preceded by the Kinétik Gym Race (June 14), the Châteauguay Nautical Festival (July 10–12), and the Sainte-Martine Grand Splash (July 12).
