PFAS – Launch of a groundwater sampling project in the Godmanchester esker for the Haut-Saint-Laurent RCM

Sainte-Martine, September 4, 2025 – Yesterday, training was held for citizens on groundwater sampling to detect PFAS in the Dewitt Creek esker area of Godmanchester. The Haut-Saint-Laurent MRC has agreed to sample this area at its own expense, as the contamination is a concern for residents. The sample will be compared with a control sample located further from the esker.

The presentation was recorded and made available on the OBV SCABRIC YouTube channel to allow citizens to listen again to the explanation of the project and the methodology to be followed.

Three samples will be taken at key times to represent the dynamics of groundwater throughout the year: in September, in November and next April.
